Calgary Stampede. It is an annual rodeo, exhibition and festival that attracts about a million people. People come from far and wide. The Stampede is 10 days of partying. It bills itself as “the greatest outdoor show on earth”. It is certainly one of the largest festivals in Canada.

Kick-off for the Calgary Stampede starts with a western themed parade. It showcases lots of horses, various floats, marching bands, First Nations (the indigenous peoples of Canada), the Canadian military, the national police (called the Royal Canadian Mounted Police), some celebrities, politicians, and lots more.

This is the 3rd Calgary Stampede parade that I have attended in 13 years. It is also the 2nd one that I attended with the primary objective of taking pictures. I will be posting pictures in 2 posts. This is part 1; part 2 will be published next week. If you want to use the pictures for anything, please contact me first and get my consent. Happy viewing.
